10-Day Photographic Adventure
Introduction
Torres del Paine is perhaps my favourite national park in the world. I've been coming here for many years now (since 2003) and it's just amazingly beautiful. With turquoise glacial lakes, granite spires and the most distinctive mountain range - the Cuernos (Horns) of Paine and of course the three towers themselves, fail to impress.
Winter Light
The mountain ranges of the Paine massif are the most beautiful during the winter. The snow line is much lower on the mountains, resulting in more definition of the cracks and fissures of the rock. But it is really the winter light that I find makes the national park the most beautiful.
Coming at this time of year also means we won’t encounter other photo tours, and the tourists are few and far between.
This is very much ‘out of season’, and as such, I have two hotels opening up especially for us.
A beautiful stay
You will be staying in some of the very best accommodation that Chilean Patagonia has to offer. We will be staying in a very beautiful estancia just outsde the park for the firs part of the tour, then moving to a beautiful lodge based in the heart of the national park in the Serrano forest.

A tour of Hokkaido’s autumnal colours
11-Day Photographic Adventure
Introduction
This tour is varied in the different kinds of landscapes we will encounter as we move from the west side of Hokkaido to the far east side. We will photograph many lakes, volcanoes, farmland and coastal regions of Hokkaido.
There are many beautiful japanese trees which turn all different colours at this time of year. Some turn red (maples, wax trees, rowan, burning bush, and sumac) while others turn yellow (linden-leaved maples, ginkgo, Japanese elms, and poplars) while yet another set turn shades of brown (birches, chestnuts, oaks, and beeches).
From west Hokkaido to east Hokkaido
This tour starts on the west of Hokkaido (please arrive in Chitose on October the 21st) and will end midday of October 31st at Kushiro Airport at 1pm (please arrange a departure flight for after 3pm to be safe). There are regular daily flights from both locations to Tokyo (flights are not included).

Lone Trees, Frozen lakes & dramatic coastline
9-Day Photographic Adventure
Introduction
Wild and remote, Senja is an untouched natural gem.
Norway's second largest island, it is still a relatively unknown photographic paradise compared to its more famous Lofoten cousin. But for no good reason: it has some of the most beautifully wild landscapes I have witnessed.
With many natural forests, frozen lakes and dramatic coastal scenery, Senja offers much for the photographer. At the edge of frozen white lakes I found many beautiful lone-trees to frame in my viewfinder. Like black silhouettes against a winter-white canvas of snow, I found simplicity and beauty here.

10-Day 4WD tour (with 20 minutes of walking to explore the dune complex for best compositions)
Perhaps the most beautiful place I’ve visited, Lençóis Maranhenses national park is a sand dune and lagoon complex that covers 1,500 km2. The landscape is a study of minimalism, subtle shading and warm light that is like nowhere else that I’ve been to. Being in the dune complex during the early hours of evening times can be a wonderful experience.
During our time together, we will be based in a number of villages at the perimeter of the national park. Each morning and evening we will travel into the nearby dune complex by 4WD (roughly 30 minutes).
The entire tour will use a combination of 4WD, speed boat and (some light) trekking to visit the dune complex. The area is vast and the landscape varies from regions that have small lagoons to other regions where the lagoons are the size of large lakes and also contain some of the largest dunes in the park.
The majority of the dunes we will visit will be by 4WD. We will travel in an open-top vehicle and it may be bumpy!
There is some light trekking from the car to the lagoon’s perimeter to shoot. Sometimes you may wish to walk around the lagoons we visit. So being able to walk on sand with your camera bag and up some occasional slopes is a must for this trip. There is nothing too hard for people with regular mobility and fitness.
Accommodation is a mixture of nice hotels and some lovely guesthouses that are situated around the perimeter of the national park. The majority of them have Internet, but we will be staying in one place where there is limited internet access for approximately 2 days.
The scenery here is beautifully abstract, with soft tones abound, we will maximise our time to be on-location for early morning and sunsets. The light can often be short at around 20 minutes for each visit, so being on location and finding the right aspect view is paramount.

10-Day Photographic Adventure
The Argentina area of the Atacama offers some unique landscapes not found with its Chilean and Bolivian siblings. For example, the Desert Labyrinth is a massive area of red clay mountains formed and shaped by the elements while the Campo de Piedra Pómez is many many miles of stunning pumice rock sculptures. But I think my favourite place here is the Cono de Arita, perhaps one of the most otherworldly volcanoes I've yet seen.

A trip into the interior of Iceland during winter
7-Day Expedition
The interior of Iceland during winter is a minimalist playground of black brush strokes against a white canvas, where the edges of mountains are fleetingly visible during frequent snow storms.
This is a unique opportunity to experience the middle of Iceland in the winter and capture images that few others are able to.
If you are a self-starter, like an adventure and are happy to compromise on some home comforts to make images of a life-time, then this trip is most definitely for you.

A tour of Kyushu, Southern Japan
11-Day Photographic Adventure
Introduction
Kyushu is the third-largest and most southerly of Japan's four main islands. It has a subtropical climate with average high temperatures of14°C to 18°C (57°F - 65°F) and an average low temperatures of 4°C to 9°C (39°F - 49°F) during March.
We will spend most of our time in the northern region of Kyushu. Arriving at Kumamoto airport on the 17th of March and departing from Oita airport on the 27th of March.
A mix of nature, culture & industry
The landscape of Kyushu is a mix of nature (beaches, forests, volcanoes), culture (shrines, temples, tori gates) and industry (ports, architecture). We will photograph temples, shrines, castles, beaches, gardens and volcanos. Think more ‘environmental’ rather than pure nature landscapes.

An Icelandic minimalist landscape
7-Day Photographic Adventure
A unique opportunity to visit a minimalist landscape like few other places. If you are interested in shooting minimalist compositions, with black brush strokes on a white canvas, then this trip may be for you.
During the week we will spend together, we will be based in a hotel, situated in the interior.
The landscape is seldom the same. Snow conditions will vary which contributes to this being a trip for the adventurous. Some years we have done this trip, we have had almost minimalist conditions, and other years we’ve had parts of the black volcanic earth poke through the snow to give us something more tangible to work with.
It is different each time I come here, and so too are the driving conditions due to the wide variance in snow conditions. We may have to change our plans on a daily basis due to accessibility (or lack of) to certain areas of the landscape.
This is definitely a trip for those who are happy to come in to the interior with a flexible attitude to what may happen through the week. Expecting the unexpected is the best attitude to have for this trip.
