10-Day Photographic Adventure
The Bolivian Altiplano is perhaps the most lunar landscapes I've yet encountered. Not only is it enticing for it’s otherworldly look, but being here feels like you're on another planet because of the high altitude.
The main focus of this trip is to be at some of the best locations for sunrise and sunset each day. The highlight being the Salar de Uyuni and many other prominent features of these landscapes.
Informal small group setting
Bruce likes to run his photography-adventures in a friendly, intimate group setting. This trip has a maximum group size of seven.
Unlike a lot of tours with up to 12 or 16 people on them, running with a smaller number allows everyone to have space in which to photograph. It also means more quality time for Bruce with each participant.
This trip is more of a tour* than Bruce's normal workshops, due to the logistics involved, but you will get a lot of hands on experience from Bruce while at the same time, immerse yourself with plenty of time out in the field on your own.
* Please note that this is not a workshop. It is a photographic tour, focussed on getting you to great locations for the best light.
Adventure at high altitude
This trip has been expertly designed to ensure that we acclimatise safely. All the elevations and time to adjust have been taken very much into account.
We are staying in the best accommodation that Bolivia has to offer on the Altiplano, but to get the most out of this trip, you need to be flexible.
With limited infrastructure, the roads are very bumpy and long. Bolivia is one of the poorest countries in South America and although every effort has been made to make your stay as comfortable, it can be demanding on your comfort levels. If you like an adventure, wish to see some of the most amazing landscapes you'll ever see, and are happy to slum it a little, then this trip is for you.
Required Fitness Level
Moderate Grading
This trip has been given a moderate Grading even though all locations are close to the vehicle with little to no steep inclines involved. This is because you will find that the simplest of walks is more demanding due to the high altitude and lack of oxygen.
It is therefore a requirement that you are comfortable walking with your camera bag and tripod for up to ten minutes at high elevation. How your body copes with altitude is not related to your fitness and everyone no matter how fit will feel the effects of being at high elevation.

Temperatures & Elevation
Although this trip has been planned to help you acclimatise, you wll be at high elevation. This means colder temperatures and less oxygen. If you go slowly, pack lightly by bringing only the essential camera gear, you'll be fine.Accommodation
We will be travelling through some very remote regions. For most of the tour we will be staying in the basic but very clean Tayka community run hotels - these are the best that Bolivia can offer in such remote regions. The door of your room is made from Cactus, the bed frame from Salt. Bedding is very warm and comfortable with plenty of blankets. These are very nice hotels and you’ll find them a unique visit. We also stay at salt hotel at the edge of the Salar de Uyuni for one night, which is a real upgrade from the more basic accommodation of the Tayka hotels.
The last few nights in Bolivia are at a very very basic hotel with no power outlets in your room. I have chosen this hotel for one simple reason: it is the only option in the region, if one wishes to visit some of the amazing locations that are nearby. You will need some spare batteries charged before arriving at this hotel as there are no power outlets in the rooms.
All the beds are extremely warm with copious amounts of blankets. But you may wish to bring a hot-water bottle in case of extreme cold temperatures at night (we are at high elevetaion)
